Frequently asked questions
What is a ficha reducida?
It is the technical document, regulated by Spanish Royal Decree 750/2010 and signed by a chartered engineer, that lists your vehicle's specifications. The ITV station needs it to issue the Spanish ITV card for an imported vehicle.
How long does it take?
About 2 hours from receiving complete documents, Monday to Thursday 9:00 to 21:00 and Friday 9:00 to 14:00 (Spanish time). Anything received outside these hours is delivered when the next opening period starts.
How much does it cost?
Cars and vans: €50 + VAT (€60.50). Motorbikes: €70 + VAT (€84.70). Motorhomes: €90 + VAT (€108.90). Prices for vehicles with a European type-approval number.
Is it valid at every ITV station in Spain?
Yes. It is signed by a chartered industrial engineer and comes with the responsible declaration required by the region of your ITV station.
What is a European type-approval number?
A code starting with a lower-case "e" and a number, such as e1*2001/116*0307. On German papers it is in box K. If you can't find it, send us the documents and we'll check.
Can I bring a car from the UK?
Yes, if it has a European type-approval number, which most cars registered in the UK before 2021 do. Send us the V5C and photos and we'll confirm.
Ficha reducida or Certificate of Conformity (COC)?
Both are accepted at the ITV. The COC is issued by the manufacturer and usually takes longer and costs more. The ficha reducida is issued by a chartered engineer from the official type approval.
